Dental Implants

“Smile confidently. Feel like you again”
What is a dental implant?
Dental implants are titanium posts that fuse with the jawbone when inserted into the upper or lower jaw, serving as stable foundations for replacement teeth such as crowns and bridges. They closely resemble natural teeth in appearance, feel, and function, with a high success rate for tooth replacement. Additionally, they help prevent continuous bone loss and jawbone shrinkage, which can contribute to an aging facial appearance.
Before After

Single implants

If you have a single missing tooth, a dental implant is often the ideal solution. It serves as a replacement for the lost tooth root and provides support for the implant crown. Unlike traditional methods, it does not require grinding down adjacent teeth, preserving their natural structure. The implant functions like a natural tooth root by transferring chewing pressure from the crown to the jawbone, which helps maintain bone health and prevents resorption.

Multiple implants

When multiple teeth are missing, filling the gap promptly is crucial to prevent nearby teeth from shifting and to minimise bone loss in the area. The necessary number of implants will be determined individually based on each patient’s specific needs.

Bone grafting / Sinus lifting / Soft tissue grafting

Implant placement should be dictated by the ideal future tooth position. Following tooth loss, there is always inevitable loss of surrounding bone and gum. As a result, to provide optimal conditions for placement of dental implants, bone and gum grafting may be required.
Similarly, for upper molar implants, some cases may require raising the sinus floor to provide adequate space for the implants to be surrounded by bone.
At North Shore Prosthodontics, we are able to provide all these services, from treatment planning using the most up to date Cone Beam CT scans to grafting, implant surgeries and insertion of provisional and definitive crown / bridge in one location by Dr Lim.

The implant can be seen located into the sinus, thus a sinus lift and bone graft were performed with a simultaneous implant placement in the desired position.

All-on-4®

The All-on-4 ® concept refers to a procedure where four or more implants are utilised to support a full set of teeth within days. This treatment concept requires thorough planning and can be a great alternative to dentures. The All-on-4 ® technique reduces the need for bone grafting, which can make the overall procedure faster, require less healing time and more affordable for patients.
The All-on-4® procedure is a dental implant solution designed to replace an entire arch of missing teeth, offering greater bite force compared to traditional dentures.
This treatment may be suitable for individuals with multiple missing teeth, advanced gum disease, severe tooth decay, or those unable to restore their teeth through other methods.
All-on-4® works by securing a full set of durable, artificial teeth onto four strategically placed implants—two positioned at the front and two at the back of the jawbone. This approach ensures stability while being less invasive than some conventional full-mouth restoration techniques.

The process consists of two stages after thorough evaluation by the Specialist.

First stage

Any remaining teeth with poor prognosis are removed, and the implants are placed. A temporary set of acrylic teeth is then fitted, which you will wear for three to six months while your jawbone integrates with the implants. This phase allows you to adapt to the look and feel of your new teeth and make any necessary adjustments before the definitive set.

Second stage

You will receive your definitive, high-quality teeth, expertly crafted by master dental ceramists for a natural and lasting smile. The material choices are either high-quality acrylic or ceramic bridge with a milled titanium or zirconia structure.
